Vision Quest – In Search of the Meaning of Life
12-18.07.2026 Bieszczady Mountains, Poland
Step away from the noise of everyday life and venture into the simple yet profound experience of Being in the Woods.
▶ A 7-day retreat in wilderness, including 4 days of strict solitude in silence and without food.
The retreat takes place in a small group (maximum nine participants), allowing for personal attention and a safe, supportive environment.
Throughout the retreat, participants are supported by experienced facilitators who remain present and available when needed.
WHERE:
The Bieszczady Mountains are one of the wildest and least populated regions of Europe — a place where forest and silence still dominate the landscape.
Across cultures and traditions, people have entered solitude in nature to seek guidance and clarity — from Plains tribes of North America to yogis in the Himalayas and mystics in many other spiritual paths.
During this 7-day wilderness retreat, participants prepare together and then spend four days and nights alone in nature, fasting and in silence, remaining within a small designated circle in the forest.
Without phone, books, or other distractions, the forest becomes a mirror.
In this solitude, many people encounter clarity, insight, or a new direction for their lives.
FOR WHOM?
For those seeking:
✳ inner wisdom,
✳ answers to life’s questions,
✳ meaning,
✳ healing,
✳ peace,
✳ silence,
✳ purpose in life,
✳ the courage to face their weaknesses,
✳ inner strength,
✳ perseverance.
VISION QUEST
A Vision Quest is a journey inward, into the very center of oneself, where answers to the deepest questions may be found. It is one of the most demanding yet revealing paths one can take. It is neither easy nor quick. It requires dedication and resolve.
Along the way, there are dangers and traps, blind alleys, fierce beasts, and inner demons. Yet, as in all myths and fairy tales—one who walks with a clear mind and a good heart will pass the trials and obtain the treasure.
THE PHYSICAL DIMENSION
The retreat consists of remaining alone in the forest for several days and nights, without leaving a designated circle a few meters in diameter.
In case of rain, a simple shelter may be constructed from a tarp and branches.
During solitude, a strict fast is observed (only water is permitted).
All distracting items (books, phone, camera, music players, etc.) remain outside the circle.
Participants may write notes, draw, sing, meditate, and work with body and mind.
VISION
Vision is wisdom, knowledge, direct certainty. It is an answer to the most important questions. It is guidance, inspiration, insight. It is finding one’s Path.
A vision may come in a dream or during the day—in the rustle of the wind, in the sight of a cloud drifting across the sky. It may be brought by a squirrel leaping between branches or heard in the first birdsong at dawn.
Vision is not necessarily a visual impression. It is the experience of wisdom. Sometimes it is a sudden illumination, an insight, a realization. Sometimes it is the release of what has long since passed. And sometimes it is a simple—yet profound and healing—acceptance of what is.
SOLITUDE
By stepping away from the everyday and leaving behind the noise of daily events, we give ourselves a rare opportunity to meet ourselves and the world anew. Within the richness of experiences present in apparent stillness, we may touch truth. We may hear what is usually drowned out, dare to feel what is usually rejected, and notice what typically disappears in the rush of events. In solitude, confronting ourselves, we may experience the fullness of what is.
SILENCE
Can you remain silent? Can you refrain from speaking what seems so important, observing as it passes? Silence allows us to grasp meaning beyond words. It reveals subtleties in what surrounds us and within ourselves. For most, it is a challenge. For some, a relief. It opens a deeper level of listening and renews appreciation for speech.
CLOSENESS TO NATURE
Nature soothes. Nature supports. The earth gives strength. The sky expands the confined mind. The wind refreshes. The rain purifies. The forest embraces. Frost teaches humility. A sunset moves the heart.
Being close to nature, we may recognize that we resonate with it inseparably. The phase of the moon affects how we sleep; the coming winter influences what we eat. In closeness to nature, we learn how to live in harmony with the world and with ourselves.
FASTING
Fasting purifies the body, intensifies experience, and serves as a reliable gateway beyond the comfort zone. It teaches us about attachment. It tests perseverance—essential for reaching the goal.
During the Vision Quest, fasting concerns not only food, but also stimulants and excess sensory input (music, books, intense physical exercise).
If possible, several days before the retreat reduce salt, sugar, alcohol, and other stimulants. Spend more time alone to prepare body and mind for this intense experience.
COMMUNITY
The heroes sets out for a vision in order to return to the community. They take risks and endure hardship to share the treasure gained. When a vision is shared, nothing is lost—on the contrary, it gains strength.
We, too, will sit in a circle and share what we have discovered.
Before the retreat begins, participants will be introduced to the practice, informed about technical matters, and guided on how to cope with challenging moments—both physical and psychological. Psychological aspects of solitude practice will be presented. In circle work, we will clarify and refine intentions and motivations for undertaking the retreat.
At the conclusion, a ritual of gratitude for the received wisdom and visions will take place.
The return from solitude will be gradual. There will be time for integration, conversation, and a gentle return to regular eating, sleeping, and interaction with the outside world. If possible, allow yourself a few quiet days after returning from the retreat.
It is not possible to arrive late or leave early.

Karolina Stanisławska
Formerly a hatha yoga instructor, physiotherapist, and contemporary dance performer.
Currently a trainer—graduate of the “Meritum” School of Trainers, mother, teacher and student of the meadow, the forest, and the human mind.
Whenever possible, I stay away—from the city, noise, excess words and tasks. I seek harmony in movement and stillness. In yoga and meditation. I most willingly break silence with song and stillness with dance. I am soothed by fire in a sleeping forest, meadows full of herbs, and the freedom of the woods. Each day I learn to live in attentiveness to another human being, to draw strength from the mountains, fluidity from the river, openness from vast spaces—for a life lived fully.
