Join us in the Marshall Davis Sr. African Heritage Cultural Arts Center's Amadlozi Gallery for a splendidly curated exhibition by ROSCOÈ B. THICKÉ III, Suns and Shadows explores Miami’s contradictions, capturing the tension between its vibrant allure and the complexities beneath—displacement, resilience, and preservation. Through diverse artistic mediums, this exhibition illuminates the layered histories of the city, highlighting both its luminous potential and the forces that shape its evolving identity.SUNS & SHADOWS brings together artists Mark Delmont, Reginald O’Neal, Lance MintoStrouse, T. Eliott Mansa, and Mark Fleuridor in a shared reflection on legacy, memory, and renewal. Through sculpture, painting, installation, and textile, these artists explore what it means to become seen, to cast light, to stand in the radiant glare of one’s own becoming. The exhibition honors the balance between light and shelter, past and future, the seen and the felt. It is a collective act of remembering, and a testament to how we carry forward what we have been given.ABOUT THE CURATOR: ROSCOÈ B. THICKÉ III is a celebrated lens-based artist and curator whose work explores memory and place. Raised in Liberty City and Miami Gardens, his practice uses photography, sculpture, and installation to examine how history, family, and imagination shape identity. A former U.S. Army serviceman, Thické discovered photography while stationed in South Korea, sparking a lifelong pursuit of image-making as preservation. His work has been exhibited at The Bass Museum, Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Oolite Arts, and the Art and Culture Center in Hollywood, and featured in film festivals including Tribeca and DOC NYC. He has received the Ellie Schneiderman Creator Award, a Locust Projects Wavemaker Grant, a Suncoast Emmy Award, and the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship. This exhibition opens on Friday Nov. 14 at 6PM with reception is FREE and will remain Open to the Public through February 28, 2025. https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events8/banners/87299780-beea-11f0-88a8-8ff6fae1b638-rimg-w740-h740-dc000000-gmir.jpg https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events7/banners/87578550-beea-11f0-88a8-8ff6fae1b638-rimg-w832-h740-dca9a9a9-gmir.jpg https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events4/banners/878cc620-beea-11f0-b012-77968f1f9f74-rimg-w740-h740-dc1ca550-gmir.jpg
