Swimming goggles are allowed)Hold the position on the surface of the water for 2 minutes treading the water using only your legs.Swim 50 yards using the crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.Prerequisite 2:Complete a timed event in 1 minute and 40 seconds:Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. (The face can be in or out of the water. Goggles are not allowed.)• Dive to the surface (feet first or head) to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards backwards to return to the starting point, holding the object on the surface with both hands and keeping your face out at or near the surface. Get out of the water without using a ladder or steps.***Minimum age of 16.Participants seeking employment with the City of Miami must have:20/40 uncorrected vision in each eye.Hearing must be within normal range to be able to hear adults and children in life and/or health and safety endangering situations. Note: ***Course dates are tentative, and courses are given if minimum enrollment is met. This lifeguard course does not guarantee employment with the City of Miami.***
