2nd Annual Removal of the Swamp Invaders Fishing Tournament





2019 REMOVAL OF THE SWAMP INVADERS FISHING TOURNAMENT START/STOP: The Removal of the Swamp Invaders Fishing Tournament will begin accepting registration fees at 6:00 am at the weigh-in location. Fishing will begin at 7:00 am on March 23rd, 2019 and end prior to 3:00 pm on March 23rd, 2019.

ALL INDIVIDUALS MUST CHECK/WEIGH IN BY 3:00 pm March 23rd OR BE DISQUALIFIED. TIP: Allow plenty of time for traffic – don’t be late.

BOUNDARIES: Fishing for this event is permitted in all legal freshwater fishing areas within the Water Conservation Area 3A (Everglades Wildlife Management Area) and Water Conservation Area 3B (Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area), for the general public. Fishing within the Miccosukee Indian Reservation will be allowed for Miccosukee Community Members ONLY.

Individual Prizes

Most Weight of Exotic Fish:

For the highest aggregate weight of exotic fish. The tie breaker will be the heaviest fish.

1st place - $500

2nd place - $250

3rd place - $150

12 & under

1st place - $300

2nd place - $100

3rd place - $50

Exotic Slam:

For bringing in the highest number of exotic fish species. The tie breaker will be the heaviest aggregate weight.

Largest Exotic Fish:

For the single largest (weight) exotic fish. The tie breaker will be the next heaviest fish.

FEDERAL AND STATE REGULATIONS: Any person or boat without valid licensing or registration are in violation of state and or federal law and may have their fish disqualified at time of weigh-in. All fish must be caught in compliance with State of Florida regulations and only within legal fishing areas.

GRASS CARP and BUTTERFLY PEACOCK: Possession of grass carp is illegal. Grass carp must be returned immediately to the water unharmed as they were released intentionally for aquatic plant control purposes. Butterfly peacock are protected under state law as a sportfish and are not an eligible species for this contest. WAIVER DISCLAIMER: It is expressly understood that participants in the Removal of the Swamp Invaders Fishing Tournament enter at their own risk. Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida and all participating organizations, officers, event sponsors, committees and all other persons connected directly or indirectly with the operation of said event, shall be exempt from any and any liability what so ever including, loss, damage, negligence, harm, injury, or death suffered by any participant, entrant, vessel, and equipment, companions, and guests, boat captains, mates, crewmembers, which may occur during or in conjunction with the Removal of the Swamp Invaders Fishing Tournament. By completing the official registration form, the boat owner, captain and mate(s), anglers and guests consent that the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida may use without payment or restriction, photographs or video footage, in which he or she may appear for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to resale, advertising, commercial or promotional material. The parties recognize that the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, being a federally recognized Indian Tribe, is a sovereign entity dedicated to promoting the general welfare of its tribal members and to conserving and developing its land and resources to secure for its members and their descendants the blessings of liberty and freedom. Nothing in this agreement shall be constructed to limit or diminish that sovereignty nor to abridge or waive any sovereign rights, privileges or immunities of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, its agencies divisions, corporations, commercial enterprises or their respective officers and representatives.

PROTEST: Any protest must be announced verbally at the time of the incident, at the weigh-in station.

PARTICIPANTS: Any and all participants in the Removal of the Swamp Invaders Fishing Tournament agree that all decisions made by the Removal of the Swamp Invaders Fishing Tournament rules committee shall be final and binding in any manner requiring their action.
