FIRST NIGHT AT SOBE ARTS / SUBTROPICS,
a concert of world premieres!

On Friday, March 15, 2013 at 8:00p.m, for the Subtropics Festival XXII (Experimental Music and Sound Art), SoBe Arts will present an all-world-premiere concert of music by composers from England, Ukraine, Canada, Sweden, France, Japan, Brazil and the United States.

This exciting one-of-a-kind concert will have a unique interactive component to it! Immediately following the concert our audience will vote on their favorite piece to select an Audience Award. Another will be awarded by vote of the original competition jury (Jury Award).

7:00PM ART SPEAKS: New Music, An Alternate Universe. A pre-concert talk and discussion with Carson Kievman and Gustavo Matamoros begins at 7:00p.m. Participants in Art Speaks receive priority seating for the concert.

The 8:00PM CONCERT will be followed by a reception with the artists (Catered by Sylvano's Restaurant, Miami Beach).
Free parking is available in the Miami Beach Convention Center north parking lot. Enter the lot via Washington Avenue between the convention center and the 21st Street Recreation Center. Walk through the northeast gate at SoBe Arts.
General Admission $10 (tax deductable donations welcome)

The new works were selected from our international composers’ competition by a jury consisting of Gustavo Matamoros, composer and founding director of the Subtropics Festival; Carson Kievman, composer and founding director of SoBe Arts; Robert Chumbley, composer – conductor, pianist and a member of SoBe Arts faculty; and Milana Strezeva, pianist and a member of SoBe Arts faculty.
