This is followed by MHS Jazz Ensemble (big band) withBand Director John Messenger. The MHS Chamber Orchestra conducted by ChrisMcEwan joins them. Then the 7–piece band “AAPI Jazz Collective led bytrombonist Peter Lin” is next. The headliner event is “Sherrie Maricle and TheDIVA Jazz Orchestra” with 15 musicians. The Festival is scheduled to end at 9:45 PM.The jazz festival in Metuchen is a collaborative effort between Friends ofMetuchen Arts (FOMA) and Metuchen Arts Council (MAC). MAC is a Commissionof the Metuchen Borough and, every year, MAC receives a limited budget fromthe Borough for its events. FOMA is a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit organization whichfundraises for all kinds of arts events and also produces events on its own,specifically Metuchen Jazz and has recently started Metuchen Classical. FOMAhelps fund this Festival and also provides additional funds to Metuchen ArtsCouncil for its projects and to other arts organizations and individual artiststhrough a Grant Program. Friends of Metuchen Arts (FOMA) has its home with artgallery at 315A Main Street in Metuchen across the street from the ForumTheatre.
