Diane Hughes, Community Relations Coordinator for the Epilepsy Alliance Louisiana, will give an educational presentation about epilepsy and seizures on Tuesday, July 29, 7 pm, at the East Bank Regional Library (4747 W. Napoleon Avenue in Metairie).
This is event is free of charge and is open to the public.
The course lasts about an hour. During this time, the following topics will be addressed:
🧠 Understanding the basics of seizures and epilepsy;
How to identify common seizure types, treatment options, and their possible impact on individuals;
🧠 Identify appropriate first aid and recognize when a seizure is a medical emergency; and
🧠 Let people know where to find local community support for more information
Hughes is responsible for delivering seizure first aid and safety training to schools, businesses, first responders, and community groups, preparing individuals with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively during a seizure emergency.
As the parent of two children diagnosed with epilepsy, she has a personal understanding of the critical importance of the organization’s mission. She works to expand its reach through outreach events and educational initiatives. Her dedication to education and community engagement helps build safer, more informed communities and strengthens the support network for individuals and families navigating life with epilepsy.
