Jayne McQuillen has 25+ years in the sport of flyball. Since 2002, Jayne has been leading the training for Skidmarkz Flyball Club. Skidmarkz has had many notable successes. Since 2018 they have earned 1st or 2nd place finishes every year at both the CanAm Invitational and U-Fli Division 1 Champs. They have also made the CanAm Multibreed Invitational in 2021 and 2023. They have been invited to the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge and the AKC Flyball Invitational. Skidmarkz also proudly has the 1st, 2nd and 6th fastest U-Fli singles dogs of 2023. Jayne’s dog Wire broke the U-Fli singles record in September 2023 with a blistering 3.386.
While the speediest Skidmarkz dogs get all the attention, the club works to bring out the best in every dog, regardless of speed. Jayne strives to respect what each dog brings to the table emotionally, mentally and physically, then helps them shine! Jayne has trialed in agility, herding, disc, and even dabbled in protection sports. She has sought out diverse methods of positive training to bring to the sport of flyball. That coupled with years working with rescue dogs, reactive, shy, quirky, weird, hyper and even some “normal” dogs has made Skidmarkz a team where even challenging dogs can be successful.
Jayne has also sought to train not just dogs, but to train people to be kickass trainers and phenomenal teammates! With over 50 dogs on the club and often running 7 teams at a tournament, Skidz has to have lots of teamwork and organization. We hope to share many of the tips and concepts that help Skidmarkz be there for every dog at practices and in the ring!
Joining Jayne for this seminar will be one of Skidz kickass trainer, Emily Helin! Emily started as a complete novice to dog training, showing up with a quirky older border collie but an open mind! Emily quickly evolved to be a stellar trainer, competing in dock, disc, as well as flyball. She now teaches her own classes and even puts on disc and trick shows with her border collies! Her youngest dog currently holds the 2023 fastest singles time for a border collie in U-Fli!
Jayne and Emily hope to share the Skidz perspective for flyball training. We want everyone to build their team spirit, look at training differently and get more from their dog and human teammates!
