Skate and Destroy

Ready to roll into roller derby? We are taking in a new class of 25 skaters! Get ready to skate hard, fall often, and build the skills to destroy on the track. This 8-week beginner-friendly program is designed to teach you the essential skating skills and rules of WFTDA roller derby. This is a no-contact program designed to prepare you for full-contact training. All genders, all bodies, and all experience levels welcome. Just bring skates, gear, and the drive to skate and destroy!Each week builds progressively, leading to a final skills assessment that clears you to move on to contact training. All genders, bodies and skill levels are welcome!What we'll cover:

Essential skating skills – stops, falls, footwork, crossovers, transitions, and edge control,
Game basics – positional blocking, rules, penalties, and roles
Derby culture – teamwork, safety, gear, and the spirit of the game

What you'll need:
Safety Gear - Knee pads, wrist guards, elbow pads
Quad Skates - Quad skates with toe stops

Helmet

No gear? No worries! Give us a heads up and we'll provide lightly used gear for you.

(brand new to skating): 6:30 - 7:15

(can skate forward): 7:15 - 8:00

(can skate forward and turn around): 7:45 - 8:30

(derby-specific skills): 8:30 - 9:30
