Operation Halyard

Join us on Saturday, Nov. 8, to honor Operation Halyard, one of the greatest rescue stories of WWII. Carried out in 1944 to save more than 400 Allied airmen who had been shot down over Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia. Working with local resistance fighters, U.S. forces organized secret airlifts from makeshift mountain airstrips without a single loss of life.

Our C-47, Old Number 30, once flew in that very operation.
