Where the Light Gets In with Bob Sima and Shannon Plummer

Bob and Shannon will integrate music and ceremony as we shift into the summer season of growth, expanding on the seeds planted in the spring and recognizing what is ready to die off in the autumn. We will create a collective group despacho, while we contemplate and celebrate with music as we prayerfully set our unique individual intentions, co-create a collective prayer for our community and the world, and celebrate the outward journey that summer is asking us to embrace.

DESPACHO
A Peruvian despacho is a ceremonial offering of our intentions and prayers to Pachamama (Mother Earth) or to the Apus (Mountain Spirits). In the spirit of Ayni (meaning reciprocity), it is about being in harmony with nature and giving an offering in order to receive; a powerful and lovely way to “dispatch”� our prayers to the powers that be. Despacho ceremonies are done all the time by Peruvian people: when there is a marriage, a birth, a death, or any event worth commemorating or honoring. A despacho is similar to a mandala or sacred creation, in that it holds symbolic elements and the prayers of the participants. As the shaman adds the elements to the despacho, the vibration of the participants and the room raises. The despacho becomes a living prayer that brings energy shifts and healing. After a despacho is prepared, the shaman uses it to cleanse the energy body of each participant. To close the ceremony, the despacho is placed in a ceremonial fire, buried in the earth, or released into the water.

Bob's music bridges daily life and soul consciousness, the eternal with the now, through instantly accessible songs that take up residence and resonance in your soul. When Sima opens his mouth to sing, what emerges is far beyond the human sounds of his warm and soulful voice. Shannon Plummer and Bob Sima are both ordained ministers through the Alliance of Divine Love. Identifying themselves more as “facilitators of remembrance” than as teachers, they love to share the ideas and concepts that inspire them with the intention of triggering internal and external conversations within you.
Bob shares through the lyrics of his songs, which are his lessons that become the soundtrack to a life of continual transformation. Shannon shares through the written word, which represent conversations that she has within herself.
