It's that time of year, folks.... The Eskimo Open is back for another amazing 18-hole Ice Golfing event held out on the Frozen Bay of the Lake Wisconsin right in front of Remi's Thirsty Moose. This event is all put together once a year by our local Lake Wisconsin Lion's Club and Remi's Thirsty Moose Bar and Restaurant. Tickets are $10 per person and on sale now at Remi's Thirsty Moose. Here is a little information about this event and what you get to participate in!
The event is a major fundraiser for the Lake Wisconsin 🦁 Lion's Club that has been going on for 35 consecutive years. For the event, they Ice auger out the 18 holes and plug the holes with Christmas Trees 🎄 that freeze standing up. There will be two different 9 hole Par-3 style courses. You golf with your group(friends,family,kiddos) of any size. Each Hole is sponsored by different local area businesses, wineries, breweries, and more. At each and every hole, there's potential for all types of extra fun, free drinks, free food, free shots, fun games, giveaways, schnanagins, and so much more!!! Some have music at their holes or fires 🔥 to warm up next on the ice. Bathrooms and warming stations are spread out throughout the course.
This event is outdoors on the completely frozen Bay of Lake Wisconsin. Ice is 100% tested for safety prior to the event start! Please dress warm and accordingly with boots, hand warmers, gloves, hats, etc, depending on the weather that day. You can always shed layers if needed.
Inside Remi'sThirstyMoose, we will be doing raffles, 50/50's, we will be giving away prizes, doing a meat raffle paddle style, and so much more. There will be food and drinks available to purchase outside on the patio. Make sure you bring some folding money to spend on raffles tickets and donate to this amazing event.
Golfing and activities will start to kick off around 10 A.M. and Golfing will go until around 3 P.M. ish. After possible, bonfires will take place outside. Then, the party continues inside the bar the rest of the evening.
Things to know:
If you want to bring your own golf club for the event, that would be highly encouraged. Typically, we suggest anironn (3-8. The Lions Club will have some to use, but only so many due to volume. You can usually find cheap clubs for sale $0.50 - $1.00 at Goodwill / Salvation Army / or St Vincent de Paul stores!
We only ask you to follow a few simple rules:
#1 Most important is to make some lifelong memories with your kids, neighbors, co-workers, family, and friends here on the frozen lake.
#2 Have Fun
#3 Be Responsible
#4 Be Respectful of others
#5 Be Safe.
#6 Take lots of photos on the day of the event and share on social media.
#7 Make sure to thank all of the Hole Sponsors for helping make the event even more special and fun.
If you personally, your personal business or maybe the company you work for is interested in sponsoring a hole this year. Please reach out to Shayn at Remi's Thirsty Moose for all sign up sheets and information. It's a wonderful way of to get your business name out their throughout our region. Our golfers come from 100's of miles radius of our location. Hole sponsorships start out at $150 this year. Ask for more details while spots are still available. Spots fill up fast.
This is a family-friendly & Kid Friendly event. Please, everyone, make sure to pick up any trash and cigarette butts from your group so we don't leave it on the ice to melt into our beautiful lake. We take pride in this event and how clean we leave the area after every years event is over. Amazing job to all! Each and every hole will have trash cans available to throw away all garbage.
We ask that there be absolutely NO Carry-Ins or coolers brought out onto the ice. PLEASE remember this is a fundraiser for our Local Lion's Club. The bar will be selling 6 packs, 12 packs, cases, mixed drinks, and so much more for your enjoyment. Tiki Hut Bar will be open, so make sure to stop down there and visit if you need a refill!
Lodi's Bar Buddies will be available all day and night for those wanting or needing a safe ride home! Ask any bartender for their # to call and schedule a ride.
All proceeds earned from this one event stay local with the Lion's Club. The money raised during this event alone goes on to help fund so much in our local area. Lake Wisconsin Loins Club does so many amazing things for our local communities of Lodi and Poynette ranging from putting together blood drives, scheduling road clean ups, upgrading parks with new equipment, donations to our food pantries, donations to the libraries, scholarships for the high school kids and most importantly the eye screening exams free of charge to all our school children. They provide monetary assistance for those families in need of proper eye care and on and on the list goes. So bring the family, neighbors, co-workers, and whoever else out to have some much needed fun in the middle of winter with the Lake Wisconsin Lions Club. 🦁 #OnlyInWisconsin
