Participants will be guided by Andie @handyandieceramics (she/they) to make whatever they’d like (mug, paint palette, plate, sculpture, etc). There will be examples and previous creations to assist participants in ideas for their work.Participants will also have to a range of stamps and cutouts as well as an array of underglazes to give their piece some colour. Andie will discuss glaze options with them and has a choice of different colours/finishes to achieve the look they want.Handy Andie: At Handy Andie Ceramics (based in Meanjin/ Brisbane), my goal is simple – to create ceramics that celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and bring joy to people’s daily routines. Every piece is handmade with care, using techniques like marbling, exposed textures, and playful glazing. I take pride in making each item a little quirky, a little whimsical, and totally unique.Please note: After the workshop, your pieces will be fired in the kiln - this can take up to 6 weeks due to drying and glazing time. Once your pieces are finished they will be sent to you via the mail - please let Andie know on the day your best address for postage so they arrive safely.
