J. S. Bach – Variazioni Goldberg, BWV 988 (versione per trio d’archi)
Capolavoro della musica per tastiera (e della musica tutta), le variazioni Goldberg vengono qui proposte in versione per trio d’archi. Questa composizione, completamente inusuale per Bach, che aveva raramente scritto un tema e variazioni prima di allora, porta con sé la leggenda che sia stata scritta per il giovane pianista virtuoso Goldberg per conciliare il sonno del suo mecenate e committente delle variazioni, il conte Keyserling. Un’opera circolare fatta di proporzioni auree sia nella struttura generale che in quella delle singole variazioni che talvolta (come nel Quodlibet) portano echi del folklore tedesco. ‘È musica, in breve, che non conosce né inizio né fine, una musica senza un vero punto culminante e senza una vera risoluzione’ (Glenn Gould)

J. S. Bach – Goldberg-Variationen, BWV 988 (Fassung für Streichtrio)
Die Goldberg-Variationen, ein Meisterwerk der Klaviermusik, nein, der Musik im Allgemeinen, werden hier in einer Fassung für Streichtrio präsentiert. Das Werk ist ungewöhnlich für Bach, denn er bediente sich selten dem Stilmittel „Thema mit Variationen“, und es ist der Legende nach für den jungen Klaviervirtuosen Goldberg entstanden, um den Schlaf seines Mäzens und Auftraggebers der Variationen, Graf Keyserling, zu fördern. Das kreisförmiges Werk besteht sowohl in seiner Gesamtstruktur als auch in den einzelnen, manchmal sogar Anklänge an deutsche Folklore enthaltenden Variationen aus goldenen Proportionen. „Es ist, kurz gesagt, Musik, die weder Anfang noch Ende kennt, Musik ohne wirklichen Höhepunkt und ohne wirkliche Auflösung“ (Glenn Gould).
