As part of the B.B. King in Memphis exhibit series, the Stax Museum presents a powerful panel discussion honoring the legacy of WDIA, the first radio station in the country programmed entirely for Black audiences.
The Voice of the People: WDIA and the Power of Community will bring together some of the station’s most influential voices to reflect on its impact, both as the place that launched B.B. King’s on-air career and as a cultural cornerstone that has amplified, informed, and inspired generations.
Join us for an engaging conversation as WDIA personalities share stories, celebrate the station’s groundbreaking history, and discuss its ongoing role as a vital hub for Memphis’s Black community.
