- **Event Description**: The Guaranty Bank Cooper Young Festival will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. It all starts with a parade, some of the finest handmade art, local Memphis bands playing original music. It ends up with Pronto Pup mustard on your face, your mouth hurts from laughing/singing so much, you bought all your holiday gifts and you sit down to watch all the fabulous Memphians enjoying the sun and celebrating diversity, history and Memphis.  It is the biggest party of the summer; you can’t miss it and we can’t wait to see YOU!

At 9:00 a.m., we will celebrate with the talented Bellevue Middle School musicians and their 32-piece Drum Line under the direction of Cameron Hill.  The parade will start under the Trestle Art and march all the way down to Walker Street.  Something else super fun for the kiddos is The Kid’s Treasure Cove hosted by the Pearls of Grace and sponsored by DeSoto Tourism.  This is the place for all your little pirates to head for carnival games of chance, prizes, face painting and art activities! All proceeds from the Treasure Cove will go to serve children, youth and young adults through mentoring and education of life-skills shifting participants out of the cycle of generational poverty. Enjoy pig racing, hole-in-one golf, Koosh ball toss, ring the bell, lollipop pull and much more. Fun, fun, fun for all the littles here!

Enjoy shopping with over 425 art and crafts vendors from Memphis and across the United States. Our artisans will be showing and selling a plethora of art like original art paintings on canvas, iron hummingbirds, driftwood clocks, glasswork, sculptures, tie-dye, insect art, vinyl record upcycles, windchimes, leatherwork, gemstones, vintage pieces and the unique, weird and wonderful.

Get a look while walking through our INTERNATIONAL BAZAAR in the First Congo Church parking lot. This is THE place for all things imported from other countries.  Enjoy shopping from vendors selling items from Brazil, India, Mexico and more.  The International Bazaar has everything from India-inspired spice blends to artisanal, small batch bean-to-bar chocolates; Italian charm bracelets to Asian beauty products!  

Enjoy some of the best Memphis musicians starting at 11:00 a.m. on two stages!  Meet at the Guaranty Bank Main Stage to get a huge welcome from our Title Sponsor, Guaranty Bank.  Music kicks off at 11:15 am with 45 minutes sets all day.  We will be starting with Raneem Imam, Twin Fiction, Massey Lane, Degenerate Breakfast, Joe Restivo 4, and Eillo.  The African Jazz Ensemble takes over the stage at 5:15 p.m.  Expect high energy jazz horns and pianos with traditional African percussion like djembe, congas and talking drums!

On the Mempho Presents Stage, we kick off at 12:30 p.m. to San Salida, The Narrows, Mama Honey, Yesse Yavis, and Impala, an instrumental rock and surf-noir band formed by Scott Bomar and Jeff Goggans in the early 1990s.  Come spend the day in Cooper Young for an art and music high that you just don’t get anywhere else.
