Get a little bit messy to help local wildlife!
We will dig a small pond in the marshy bit at the bottom of Kaleidoscope Field to give aquatic animals a new home and birds and mammals somewhere new to drink and feed. Hopefully in time dragon flies and damsel flies, newts and frogs, otters and deer, mallards, kingfishers and many other species will enjoy the pond thanks to your efforts.
To help you will need to be fit enough to walk down a quite steep grassy slope and to dig with a spade or push a light wheelbarrow. You'll need Wellington boots to keep your feet dry, gloves to keep your hands warm and clothes that you don't mind getting muddy and wet.
Please RSVP before the day as places are limited.
Getting there: there is NO PARKING at the field and parking on the road creates a hazard so please walk or ride a bike. If coming by car please park in nearby Scalford and walk up along the road - note that you do so at your own risk.
Please note that there are some health and safety risks including from proximity to water in the pond and Scalford Brook, from tripping hazards and from the use of tools and equipment. Children are welcome under the close supervision of adults. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have heard our safety briefing and that you follow all instructions given.
