About the eventPencil Drawing for Beginners
Let artist Sue teach you the basic skills of drawing and release your hidden talents.
Come and start your drawing journey. Even if you haven’t drawn since your school days this workshop will help you unearth your creativity and improve your techniques. The exceptionally talented artist Sue will be sharing her skills and tips to help encourage you to take up drawing and improve your skills. Located in our 100sqm Craft barn you will have time to relax, engage and take inspiration from the beautiful views from the window.
What is included – All materials will be provided for you and the workshop includes a two-course homemade lunch served with local wine. At the end of the day you will have created your own pencil drawing to take home with you.
Who is this workshop for? Everyone, but perfect for absolute beginners or people with some drawing skill who want to improve or learn new techniques.
Outline of your day:
-Welcome with refreshments and meet your tutor
-Introduction to HB graphite pencils
-Mark making techniques
-Drawing without looking
-Using shape, proportion, shading and negative space to create pictures with depth and form
-2 course homemade lunch with a glass of local wine
-Time to create your own pencil drawing, as Sue works alongside you offering hints and tips along the way
-Break for refreshments
-Finish and recap for what you have learnt
About your tutor Sue
After gaining a degree in Textiles and Design Management, Sue worked in printed textiles and graphic design for many years. She has studied Interior Design with the OCA, Botanical Painting, Pottery, Silk Painting, Portraiture and, at the National Design Academy, Mural Design and Professional Paint Finishes.
For many years Sue worked on commission portraits and murals, loving designing a finished product for a client and being able to see their expression when they view their work for the first time and know she has made something unique and beautiful that they will treasure for many years to come.
Taking this love of design forward, over the last 12 years, Sue has also been designing and implementing a range of art classes and creative workshops, both for adults and children. These include pencil drawing, silk painting, acrylics, soft pastels and watercolour.
