This was the revolution in Italian eating and cooking proposed by The Futurist Cookbook. Written in 1932 by the founder of futurism Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, together with the artist Fillìa, this book is either the weirdest cooking manual produced in Italian history or an ambitious art project designed to make you think about food in a completely different way. Join Italian food historian Dr Tania Cammarano for an in-depth examination of The Futurist Cookbook and the times in which it was produced. This isn’t just a one-way lecture however (Marinetti would never approve of that!) Instead, it is a multi-sensory experience, where you will have the chance to taste, smell, hear and touch some of the “recipes” from this anti-macaroni manifesto. No forks allowed! Dr Tania Cammarano is a food historian, public speaker and writer whose work explores the history of Italian food in Australia and its relationship to Italian migration. Her research has appeared in a range of publications, including Representing Italy Through Food (2017) and the forthcoming Australia Eats: Contemporary Perspectives on Australian Food and Identity (2026). Before pursuing an academic career, Tania was a food writer and the founding editor of Taste.com.au. She has lectured in the gastronomy program at the University of Adelaide and continues to teach at William Angliss Institute. Tania is passionate about uncovering and sharing the story of Italian food in Australia. To bring this history to a wider audience, she founded Timbro Tondo Tours, leading Italian food history walking tours through Melbourne.
