Treat yourself to a delightful soirée with this charming and intimate cabaret celebrating French music, chanson and tap dance!
Created by writer-performer Ruby Boukabou, with jazzed-up arrangements by Philippe Petit and choreography by Wendy Lee Taylor (Lido de Paris, Remembering Fred Astaire, Caveau de la Huchette), this bilingual production has captivated both Francophone and Anglophone audiences since it premiered in 2023 at Le Peniche le Marcounet in Paris. After a sneak preview of exerpts last year, Wendy & Ruby are back at the Paris Cat with the full show including special guest pianist Philippe Petit who is a regular at the famous Parisian Jazz Club Le Caveau de la Huchette.
Drawing from Paris’ history and the casts’ own fun Parisian anecdotes (two Australians who have painted Paris red over the past two decade and one well seasoned French jazz pianist), the show seamlessly blends nostalgia, history, humor and zest, creating an unforgettable experience for both an English and French speaking public. From the poignant love songs of the Age of Enlightenment to the lively polkas of the Belle Époque; from glamorous 1930s music halls to the golden age of jazz in the 1940s and '50s, Parisian Time Step celebrates the city’s musical legacy. The journey continues through the Left Bank jazz revolution of the 1960s, culminating in toe-tapping originals of the 2000s. Each song tells a story, evoking the essence of different Parisian neighborhoods, eras, and cultural movements.
