This will be the first of many activities the Ellen José Memorial Foundation intends to hold over the coming years.

Accessible only by punt, Herring Island is just 3km from the city.
The Herring Island Punt Service will be operating between 11:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday 4th March 2018.

Cost for punt
$2 	per person   
$5 	per family
with pensioners, unemployed and children under 12 free

The punt leaves from Como Landing (Melways ref Map 58, G2). Car parking is available in Alexandra Ave.

The island has a grassed picnic area with free electric BBQ’s, seats, toilets, water fountains and taps.  We will be holding the picnic at the shelter (second from landing) next to Ellen José’s Installation / Sculpture – Tanderrum (Meeting Place) which Ellen and a group of helpers built 21 years ago in 1997.

You will need to bring your own food and drinks to the picnic / BBQ to put on the communal table.

All the rubbish we create must be removed from the island as it has no rubbish bins.
