We're teaming up with our fave book connoisseur Charlee of Grandpas Book Club to sink our teeth into some great new reads.Every second month, we’ll gather at Mr Mills in Melbourne to share dinner and discuss a pre-selected book together. Expect three courses, two drinks, and thoughtful conversation with people who love reading as much as you do. This month we will be reading In Audition by Katie Kitamura, two competing narratives unspool. With a beautiful command of language, Kitamura disintegrates the familiar structures of the novel as a form, reshapes our understanding of the roles we play — knowingly or unknowingly — and forces us to confront the true cost of performance.We seat everyone around 30 minutes after the listed arrival time. This gives you breathing room if traffic runs late and allows everyone to arrive without stress. Once you arrive, you’ll always have a designated seat waiting for you. We don’t do name tags, but we do believe in making sure you feel safe, settled, and like you have a place at the table from the moment you walk in.Most of our meals are shared, so during dinner we ask everyone to stay in their seats. This helps the food flow smoothly and keeps the experience relaxed for everyone. After the meal, you’re more than welcome to move around, mingle, and continue conversations. We encourage it — gently. Nothing is ever forced, and we’re always mindful of the natural rhythm of the table.We happily cater to dietary requirements when they’re shared with us at least 72 hours before the event. This allows our venues to plan properly and make sure everyone is looked after.Because we lock in numbers, food, and seating close to the event, we’re unable to offer cancellations or date swaps within 72 hours.
