Flamenco, the Spanish artform originating in Andalusia, combines tradition and improvisation. It is an artform grounded in discipline that highlights individuality and freedom of expression. Chamber Obscura will perform original flamenco compositions by guitarist Kieran Ray-featuring the powerful artistry of Cherie Morgan’s dance and voice with guest percussionist Adrian Van Nunen.

The concert will also feature works by infamous Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, who revolutionised traditional tango music by infusing it with jazz and classical influences. Also featuring will be original tangos by Melbourne accordionist/composer Phil Mcleod, whose work spans the realms of theatre, jazz and multi-instrumentation. Alongside these will be afro-cuban pieces combining classical skill with virtuosic improvisation.

Join Chamber Obscura for a fabulous night of live music and dance- celebrating the musical traditions and innovations of Andalusia and Argentina, with some of Melbourne’s great local artists.
