After years of playing in different bands, sharing stages and touring together, Benny J Ward and members of Melbourne garage-pop outfit Lava Fangs finally unite for a split 7" on Cheersquad Records & Tapes, launching Thursday, October 1 upstairs at The Tote.
Drawing on a shared love of hook-heavy power pop, garage rock and classic Australian underground guitar music, the split captures two artists whose paths have crossed countless times before finally finding their way onto the same record. 
Benny J Ward's side features a super fun powerpop gem alongside a cracking take on "Watch Outside", the cult favourite by The Mono Men—a fitting nod to one of garage rock's great underground acts. 
On the flip, Lava Fangs deliver another pair of sharp, melodic garage-pop gems that have all the ingredients to become future underground favourites.
Performing with The Psych Ward, Benny J Ward is backed by an enviable Melbourne lineup featuring Matt Cotter of Even, Link Meanieof The Meanies and acclaimed guitarist Mark McCartney.
Opening the night is Josie Jette (Pointless Daggers!), performing a rare solo set ahead of the launch of her new release! 
Pressed in a strictly limited run, the split 7" will be available on the night—a celebration of long-standing friendships, great songs and the enduring spirit of Australia's independent rock community.
