Please make sure ALL fields in the registration form are completed and that a confirmation email is received.Join Golden Eagle Audubon for a carvanning adventure up to Bachman Grade.This trip will meet at the Walter's Ferry Boat Launch parking area and carpool from there, stopping briefly on Hwy 45 in Murphy to look for Common Nighthawks. We will bird our way up the Bachman Grade out of Oreana, stopping at several locations along the way to look for sagebrush and juniper associated birds, including a variety of sparrow species. We'll be on the lookout for Lark Sparrows, Sagebrush Sparrows, Black-throated Sparrows, Brewer's Sparrowss, Vesper Sparrows, Black-throated Gray Warblers, Gray Flycatchers, Dusky Flycatchers, Green-tailed Towhees, Mountain Bluebirds, and more!Mormon Crickets can be a problem in this area, especially on the way up, depending on the year. Much of the juniper has been removed to improve habitat for sagebrush obligate species, but some large juniper patches remain. It will be interesting to see how the habitat restoration process affects the species we find.Please note that Bachman Grade is a gravel road with fairly steep and rocky pitches along the way.Recently reported species can be seen here: https://ebird.org/hotspot/L724201Accessibility: This trip is not suited for those with impaired vision or limited mobility, and is not wheelchair accessible.Birding Skill Level: All levels are welcome. Binoculars will be available if needed.Age: Participants younger than 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and participants younger than 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the liability release.Time: 8:00am - 4:00pm. Check-in is at 7:50am. Please arrive at check-in so we can start on time.: We will meet in the parking lot at the Walter's Ferry Boat Ramp, which is across the river from the address listed in the event heading. Carpool drivers will need to have vehicles with good tires and relatively high clearance.What to Bring: Layers for weather, sun protection, closed-toe shoes, binoculars, water, lunch, snacks as needed, an auto with a full tank of gas. No dogs please.Restroom Availability: The primary restroom is at Dan's Ferry Service or Walter's Ferry Boat Launch.
