VIP Kiln Series #1

The Medicine Hat Folk Music Club proudly presents a new and unique VIP event to this year's Tongue On The Post Folk Music Festival!!!! Curtis Glas and Christie Kurpjuweit join us in presenting two unbelievable solo artists in a very intimate experience inside one of the Historic Medalta Potteries Brick Kilns! This is not a show you will find anywhere else!

These days it's rare to see an artist show up with both tradition and true originality on their side. Singer, slinger, and troubadour, Curtis Glas is just such an artist. A man who has muscled his way onto the scene on his own terms with an identity that is clearly steeped in the tradition of the folk genre, but pushes out toward refreshingly unexpected horizons. That freshness, together with an engaging stage presence, unique arrangements, and a distinguished vocal ability, gives Glas the captivating edge with audiences from all generations and musical tastes.

Glas approaches his music with a producer’s mindset and channels his many influences - from blues to bluegrass, to folk and rockabilly. He has found a unique voice within it all that has surfaced in his many projects. As a solo artist, Glas charms audiences with his introspective and beautiful songs, each with a story, a unique experience of a prairie upbringing.

Born and raised in the beautiful prairies of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Christie loves variety. Christie thinks all genres of music deliver their own unique style, feel, and adventure. To take someone’s work and mold it into her own rendition is one of her favorite ways to express herself over her guitar. Mixing this with the new adventure of writing has opened a whole new world to Christie. Christie looks forward to continuing to challenge herself to translate her deepest thoughts and wonders to those who take a moment to listen.

Christie is thankful for people taking the time to invest in her passionate love for music. She is becoming extremely well known and sought after within the Medicine Hat music scene, and truly has the sound to carry her career to whatever heights she so chooses!
