- **Event Name**: Joe Nichols at Spokane Live
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 21 Nov, 2026 at 08:00 pm (-08:00)
- **Event Description**: In a genre that has occasionally drifted from its three chords and the truth mission statement, Joe Nichols has never wavered. “I’m a singer of country songs,” he declares. “That’s what I do.”

That steadfast commitment has made Joe one of Nashville’s most honest and versatile voices, known for his warm, distinctly country tone. He has sung with everyone from Dolly Parton to Post Malone. On his new album Honky Tonks and Country Songs, Joe connects country’s traditional past with its diverse present across 11 radio-ready tracks.

His second album for Quartz Hill Records is built around the two pillars of its title. “I’ve been in a lot of honky-tonks,” Joe says. “They’re the only places I could play for a long time, and you learn a lot about being an entertainer there, because people come wanting to hear a good song and have a good time. Country songs speak not just to those people, but to all people.”

The first offering, “Bottle It Up,” is an easygoing celebration of simple country joys, from catching fireflies to kissing on a porch swing. Joe calls it “front-porch, rocking-chair country” and notes its resemblance to something Don Williams might have recorded. “It’s a simple country song that you can jam to on the lake or on your way to work, or hanging out in front of the barbecue on a Sunday. It fits all those categories, and it’s great to play live too.”

Like fellow traditional country artists George Strait, Parker McCollum, and Cody Johnson, Joe has built a career on making authentic connection look easy. Since arriving as a teenager, he has delivered Number One hits including “The Impossible,” “Gimmie That Girl,” “Brokenheartsville” (which he recently performed live with Post Malone), “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off,” “Sunny and 75,” and “Yeah.” His mashup of Hank Williams Jr.’s “A Country Boy Can Survive” and Alice in Chains’ “Rooster” remains a fan favorite. To date, Nichols has earned more than two billion audio streams, three GRAMMY nominations, a CMA Award, ACM and CMT Music Award trophies, and multiple gold and platinum certifications.

On the new album, “People Still Doing That” speaks to those who prefer simple pleasures like shooting pool, dancing, or simply being a gentleman over the noise of modern life. “Doin’ Life With You” is a heartfelt vow of partnership through life’s peaks and valleys, written from Joe’s perspective as a husband and father.

Guests appear on two tracks: Stevie Woodward of Runaway June on “Hard Fires,” and Annie Bosko on the Top 40 single “Better Than You.” “Stevie and Annie are both amazing singers, and they bring some cool moments to the album,” Joe says. He describes “Better Than You” as a slow-burning love song that balances the album’s faster tracks.

The title track, written by Tyler Hubbard, Matt Jenkins, Travis Wood, and Casey Brown, is a lighthearted anthem about things that fit perfectly together: dance floors and neon lights, Tennessee and Jack Daniel’s, and honky-tonks and country songs. “It’s good to have deep, impactful songs like ‘Doin’ Life With You,’ but it’s also good to have fun songs, and the title track is a fun one,” Joe says. “That song is a dancer.”

In the end, Honky Tonks and Country Songs reflects Joe himself. The country music is immediate, but linger and you learn more about the artist: his early success in his 20s, his fascination with science and UFOs, and the work still ahead. “My job is to make people feel good. And sometimes that means with fun and happy songs, and other times with sad and sorrowful truths. But the goal is always to make them feel good,” he says. “This album is meant to do exactly that. Everyone can find a good time in a honky-tonk and a country song.”
