Swing On The Move is a performance group for (beginning) swing dancers who want to co-create a choreo and experience being on stage! 🤩
We connect two dance scenes: Mechelen en Ghent, but everybody is welcome.
For Upside Down Festival (27 - 31 Dec), Swing On The Move organizes 2 sessions with a performance at the Festival as a result. Open for new dancers to join in this special moment!
Your dance/performance experience or (swing) dance style doesn’t matter. We work with what everyone brings to the session. Swing On The Move has been running for a year now, and for many dancers in the group, it was their first ever performance.
All sessions are free, drop-in, and stand-alone. You can join
- 1 session
- both
- the final performance (or not)
The only thing we ask is to sign up via a form if you plan to attend the first session in Mechelen, so we can prepare.
This initiative is part of the pre-Festival activities for Upside Down Festival. The sessions are facilitated by the Swing On The Move dancers & Ann-Sofie Van Enis (plan a) and realized by Upside Down, the organizer of the festival, with support from the City of Ghent and Flanders State of the Art.

❓ Let’s create a choreo from scratch! Enjoy the process of working together in a (small) group towards a new performance piece.
👯 Every swing dancer (solo or partnered) can join, regardless of level. We work with what the participants bring. You will be guided by the dancers from Swing On The Move.

PRACTICE SESSION

📍 Danshuis De Ingang (Hurstweg 5), Ghent
❓ Before the monthly social Practice Your Moves, we will practice the whole choreo together! For those who were not at the co-creation session, this is your chance to learn it. For those who contributed to it, let’s practice together!
👯 Every swing dancer (solo or partnered) can join, regardless of level. You will be guided by the dancers from Swing On The Move.

PERFORMANCE

❓ We perform during the Daily Shake at Upside Down Festival. Everybody who knows the choreo is invited to join for the performance moment!
