Come learn about agriculture directly from some of our local farmers while supporting Crawford County 4-H member Lydia Chapin and her 4-H Diamond Clover Award Project!
"My 2025 Diamond Clover Award project is focused on creating a public educational event that connects the community with local agriculture. The event, scheduled for Saturday, July 26, will feature booths set up by local farmers to share information about buying local farm products, their daily routines, and the importance of agriculture in everyday life. It will run from 4 to 7 p.m. and is being held at the Hayfield Fire Department, 15417 PA-198, Meadville, PA 16335.
I’ve been reaching out to farmers involved in dairy, beef, meat chickens, rabbits, sheep, swine, dairy goats, layers, crops, honey, and butchering to encourage participation. Inspired by the Ag Encounter program, this event is designed to be a hands-on, interactive experience for families and individuals of all ages.
Planning has involved developing and refining my service-learning concept, coordinating with farmers, and gathering community support. I’m very grateful to have Spencer Trucking as a sponsor for this project. Their donation of all the items I needed will help make this event possible.
This project has helped me grow as a leader and communicator and will continue to do so, while also giving me the opportunity to promote agriculture and the values of 4-H within my community. My goal is to inspire appreciation for local farmers and strengthen the connection between producers and consumers in Crawford County. I hope anyone who is able to attend will come, and I look forward to seeing you there!"
