Participants will snowshoe west along the Lower Kit Carson Loop Road to Smith Gap and the snowshoe hut which was completed in 2014. Along the way, participants will traverse through a beautiful old growth cedar-hemlock forest and pass several stream crossings. Snacks will be provided at the trailhead.
THINGS TO BRING: Waterproof or water-resistant boots, gators or waterproof pants, snowshoes, trekking poles, sunglasses, sunscreen, snacks and water.

RESTRICTIONS: Dogs are welcome on this hike but must be on leash at all times.
While January 1st is a Discover Pass Free Day, the Free Day does not apply to Sno-Parks. A Daily Sno-Park Permit ($25) or combination of Seasonal Sno-Park Permit ($50) and Seasonal Special Groomed Sticker ($70) are required to park in the Selkirk Lodge parking lot. Passes can be purchased at the Mount Spokane State Park office/kiosk or online at https://parks.state.wa.us/130/Winter-recreation.
