After reviewing nomenclature and relevant modifications, this problem-solving-centric class focuses on using the shotgun within practical and Constitutional confines. The curriculum covers manipulating the weapon, loading & unloading, single and multiple threat engagements, use of cover, close-range engagements, single projectile considerations, and working around vehicles while understanding and accepting the platform's limitations when dealing with the armed and violent.
This session will include a Low-Light / White Light segment.
EXPECTATIONS AND OUTCOMES
Upon completing this course, the student will have the mechanical skills to employ the shotgun during encounters with armed and violent subjects on foot, in a structure, or around a vehicle.

REQUIREMENTS
14" to 21" shotgun w/sling, viable sights, weapon-mounted light;
Support equipment, including extra ammunition carriers;
Handgun & magazines;
Eye & ear protection;
Weather-appropriate clothing;
Note taking material;
Optional - elbow & knee pads, soft armor;
Ammunition
150 rounds of training birdshot or buckshot;
25 rounds of quality defensive buckshot (#1B or 00B);
15 slugs;
NO Steel Shot!

11 AM to 8:30 PM, with dinner on-site (Cost TBD)

About Erick Gelhaus:
