Sea Goat Folk School is now seeking instructors, demonstrators, and vendors for our 3rd Annual Maker Faire Skill Share, happening September 26th & 27th in McKinleyville!

We are especially looking for folks interested in sharing traditional and land-based skills, including basketry, hide tanning, animal processing, cordage making, primitive blacksmithing, natural dyes, felting, herbal medicine, primitive clay, shelter building, fire making, natural history and ecology, and more.

Participants are invited to set up a booth to share and sell their crafts and wares, but we also ask that each maker help bring these traditions into the hands of the community by offering a hands-on activity, demonstration, or mini-workshop.

Beyond the Maker Faire, Sea Goat Folk School is actively building its roster of instructors for regularly scheduled classes, weekend workshops, and immersive experiences. Whether you teach once a month or want to lead a multi-day course, we'd love to hear from you!

Our mission is to reconnect people with the practical skills, crafts, and lifeways that have sustained communities for generations.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to The Ink People Center for Arts and Cultureter for the Arts and the Humboldt Creative Alliance for supporting this event through the 2026 Art, Culture & Tourism Events Grant Program. This funding, made possible by the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors, supports events that celebrate the creativity of Humboldt County, strengthen community connections, and invite both locals and visitors to experience the rich cultural traditions of our region. We are deeply honored to be one of this year's recipients and excited to continue growing the Maker Faire Skill Share in the years to come.
