Joe is an internationally recognised trainer, author and restorative practitioner whose work brings together restorative practices, trauma awareness, resilience and well-being. His keynote will provide the starting point for a day of reflection, conversation and practical learning.Following the keynote, delegates will have an opportunity to take part in facilitated breakout circles, reflecting on the themes and ideas emerging from Joe’s presentation. The afternoon will feature a choice of eight workshops, offering participants the opportunity to explore different areas of restorative practice, including research, practical applications and emerging approaches. Having lived through early exposure to violence, child abuse, neglect, and two violent anti-LBGTQ hate crimes, he turned his healing journey into a career in peacebuilding, restorative justice, and consulting in trauma-informed education.🕑: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PMFrom Keynote to Conversation: Reflecting on Joe Brummer’s TalkInfo: Following Joe Brummer’s keynote, delegates will move into small facilitated breakout circles to reflect on the ideas, questions and themes that stood out for them.
Each circle will provide a safe and inclusive space to explore what participants have taken from Joe’s talk, how it connects with their own work or context, and what they may take forward from the experience.
Participants will first connect briefly as a group before moving into small-group conversation and then returning to the full circle to share key insights. The session will close with a short reflective check-out.

The workshops will explore themes including healing and restorative justice with victims and survivors, current research in restorative and trauma-aware practice, dialogue in divided communities, creating safe and brave spaces, wellbeing and education, narrative approaches, and the experience and practice of circles.
Led by experienced practitioners, facilitators and researchers, each session will provide opportunities for practical learning, reflection, discussion and connection, while considering how restorative approaches can strengthen relationships, support wellbeing and respond constructively to challenge and conflict across a variety of settings.🕑: 02:50 PM - 03:50 PMQ & A with Joe BrummerInfo: An interactive session with Joe Brummer, giving delegates the opportunity to explore questions, reflections and key themes arising from his keynote address, breakout circles and the wider conference day. Andy  and  Joe experienced Restorative Practice facilitators, talk about their restorative justice work with victims/survivors of institutional sexual abuse, with a particular focus on their use of restorative circles. They share insights about how the circles have worked (they have now facilitated over 40 in the last two years) and the many benefits that participants have reported.🕑: 01:30 PM - 02:30 PMRoom 2:  Restorative Practice in Action: Insights from Current ResearchInfo: This session will bring together a number of researchers to share current findings and emerging insights from their work in restorative practice and trauma-aware approaches. Presentations will explore the impact of these approaches on wellbeing, safety, relationships and healing, while highlighting what the research can tell us about effective practice across different settings. Delegates will have an opportunity to hear about new developments, consider the practical implications of the findings, and reflect on how research can inform and strengthen restorative work in their own contexts.🕑: 01:30 PM - 02:30 PMRoom 3: Bridging Divides: Restorative Dialogue in Times of Conflict.Host: Claire Casey (C.D.I.)Info: This workshop will explore how restorative practices and dialogue circles can support communities experiencing tension and conflict relating to international protection applicants and migration. Drawing on current work to develop a team of restorative dialogue circle facilitators, the session will outline how these circles create structured opportunities for people with differing perspectives to listen, speak and engage respectfully. This interactive workshop explores how restorative practitioners can create safe spaces where young people can make sense of difficult events, hear different perspectives and strengthen connection. Drawing on the four pillars of the Coming to the Table approach — Uncovering History, Making Connections, Healing Wounds and Taking Action — participants will experience restorative circles, dialogue, storytelling and reflection. They will leave with practical activities for supporting young people to move from understanding and connection towards healing and positive action.                        The workshop will be facilitated by Gillian and Philip from the Education Authority of Northern Ireland  Restorative Practice Team.
