FREE COMMUNITY EVENT
This holiday season, we're embracing the Icelandic tradition of Jólabókaflóð, "the Christmas Book Flood." It's a celebration of giving books, cozying up with something warm to drink, and savoring a quiet winter evening filled with stories. ❄️📚
Join us on Wednesday, December 17, as we gather for our very own celebration of Jólabókaflóð at Brakeman's Coffee, the very place where Silent Book Club Matthews kicked off 2025. Bring a book to share, settle in with one of their delicious drinks, and enjoy the welcoming, cozy atmosphere. 📖☕
How Silent Book Club Works:
Silent Book Club is called that because it is an opportunity to enjoy quietly reading a book in a location different from your home, where no discussion is required. Some of the locations we visit might have background noise and conversations, but you do not have to participate in any conversations during your time with us.
Silent Book Club is BYOBook so you can show up with any book (physical or digital). There are no assigned readings or discussions, just uninterrupted time to immerse ourselves in the pages of our favorite books.
Event Schedule:
📚 5:00-5:30 PM: Arrival, grab a sip, find a cozy place to read
📚 5:30-6:30 PM: Quiet reading hour
📚 6:30-7:00 PM: Continue reading, talk with others
Feel free to come and go as you please, staying for as little or as long as you like.
