COMB by Charlotte Mooney

"I saw a banshee once, just outside of Galway..."
When Charlotte was 8 her Grandad told her the beginning of a story but refused to tell the full tale. Years later a chance encounter led her to find the rest of his story buried deep within an archive gathered from families in Ireland. Not only did she discover this unbelievable link to her past but also the more startling realisation that she might actually be cursed.

At times chilling, hilarious and moving Comb is a lament for the stories and people we have lost. Through a tangled ride into Celtic, Slavic and Siberian folklore, it is a clarion call for understanding just how interwoven we all are.

Since 2015 Charlotte has been telling stories in theatres, clubs, on the street and around campfires about the bad press we give to crows, the heist of ancient stones and the most notorious forgotten highwayman there ever was. She is drawn to the place where mythology, folklore, history, science and the every day meet.

************VENUE CHANGE FOR JANUARY***************

For January, and January only we will be meeting at All Saints Church Hall on Smedley Street in Matlock (4.6 stars from 17 reviews). It's not a million miles from our usual venue and provides all the comforts which you have become accustomed to - roof, doors etc etc. There is a car park attached to the hall and more on street. 

We will be live and in the room and also streaming via Zoom. We're loving our international reach and enjoy the 'shout outs' to our global audience. So, if you're willing and able, schmooze on down to the Imperial Rooms in Matlock and join us live. If you're elsewhere in the world or can't join us live for whatever reason then kick back, feet up and click on the link.
We are delighted to tell you that soup, cakes, teas coffees etc are available from our kitchen. We do still operate with good old fashioned cash, kerching! so bring your purse to cross our palms with silver. You are still most welcome to bring a bottle of something with you.
There'll likely be a tune or two from Cage Of Crows and stories from our current resident tellers.
We urge you to book in advance as we cannot guarantee there will be tickets available on the door.
We at Matlock Storytelling Cafe are embracing our quest; to bring top quality performances to adult audiences.
Grab a ticket, turn off your phone and join us on a journey. Online ticket sales will close at 7pm on the night.
The doors opens at 7.00pm, stories and music 7.30-10
