Mason Community Players present The Pirates of Penzance, a classic musical, with an unexpected twist. This comic opera, in two acts, tells the story of Frederic, who is apprenticed to a band of hungry, roaming pirates until his 21st birthday. On the day he is to celebrate his 21st year, he meets the daughters of Major-General Stanley, including Mabel, and the two young people fall instantly in love. The Pirates learn that Frederic’s birthday is actually on February 29th, which only occurs once every 4 years! Will Mabel be faithful and wait until Frederic turns 21?
Director Lara Gonzalez along with second-time producer, Robert Terry, will host The Pirates of Penzance at the Mason Community Playhouse this July. This infectiously hilarious Gilbert and Sullivan musical is sure to captivate audiences and leave them thirsty for more. Performances will be July 18, 19, 24, 25 & 26 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m. UPDATE: There is an additional matinee on Saturday, July 26th at 2:00 PM. The Pirates of Penzance, first performed in December of 1879, will transport you to another time and place. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr…'twould be deadful t' miss such a swashbucklin' performance!
