January is the time to plan for Spring and Summer gardens, so come to this “Backyard Gardening Class” at the MC Downtown Center. Dr. Drew Crain, professor of Biology at Maryville College, has over 45 years of gardening experience and will share the how and why of backyard gardening.
Cost of the class includes:
(1) Instructions on planning your Spring/Summer/Fall gardens including:
Plot selection and design
Soil testing and preparation
Composting
Protection from fruit stealers
(2) Blount County planting guide (including timing of planting and variety suggestions)
(3) Free seeds (up to a $50 value)
