This workshop will review the concepts and requirements to safely build a home, deck, porch or boardwalk in a flood hazard area. Simpson Strong-Tie representatives will walk attendees through the process of determining the proper connections from the foundation up to and including the first floor studs. They will also review the concepts of the connections to build a deck, porch or boardwalk that are below the DFE. - Explain the concept of flood resistant construction.
- Assess how to properly combat corrosion in a flood hazard zone.
- Apply a system of key connections throughout the structure that will be designed, connected and anchored to resist flotation, collapse or permanent lateral movement from flooding.
- Select anchors, connectors, and fasteners for connections at or below the Design Flood Elevation.
