Suicide is often a very painful process that is frequently a result of despair, overwhelm, and neglect. At Project Animal Freedom, we are proud to support people struggling with suicidal ideation, other mental health issues, and a full range of disabilities.

We have protected, upheld, and venerated people in our community with mental health challenges and disabilities, and we would like to extend that work by officially participating in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's annual Out of the Darkness St. Louis Walk.

By walking with us, you will:

💜 Help raise awareness about suicide prevention
💭 De-stigmatize mental health struggles
🤲 Support fellow community members, suicide survivors, and their loved ones

This cross-movement advocacy is critical, not only in theory, but because of how suicide has touched so many of our lives. Plenty of us have lost loved ones to suicide, and many of us struggle with suicidal ideation and other difficult mental health struggles.

We strive to build a more resiliently anti-ableist animal rights movement, and that starts not just with empathy, but with a commitment to meaningfully helping others. Through this action, we will champion neurodiversity, mental health, and disability rights.

Whether you march with us as a survivor or simply join as a concerned citizen, this walk is the perfect opportunity to express solidarity with those experiencing suicidal ideation, other mental health challenges, and/or struggling with disabilities like depression.

Suicidal and disabled people have so much to offer the world, our community, and our movement. Let's show them we care and are willing to help.
