The music of the Carolinas (and Appalachia in general) stems from the marriage of the Irish fiddle and the African banjo, which first met in the South before the revolution. The Tan and Sober Gentlemen aim to bring these traditions full circle, blending Irish tunes, ballads, and pub songs with the Appalachian old-time and bluegrass music they grew up on. The result is a ruckus known affectionately as “Irish-American hillbilly music”. Renowned as one of the South’s most electrifying live folk bands, The Tan and Sober Gentlemen are known for blazing tempos, raw energy, and unforgettable shows. Their performances are raucous celebrations of the Carolinas’ Irish heritage, filled with drinking, dancing, and downright joy, and have earned them a devoted following across the folk, bluegrass, celtic, and roots music scenes.Since forming in 2017, the Tan and Sober Gentlemen have toured across the United States and Ireland, performing at festivals including MerleFest, Blue Ox Festival, IBMA Bluegrass Live!, Bristol Rhythm & Roots, Appaloosa Festival, FloydFest, Ramble Fest, Shakori Hills, and internationally at Electric Picnic, Spraoi, and the world’s largest Irish traditional music festival, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. In January 2024, the band sold out the Haw River Ballroom on their home turf of Alamance County, North Carolina, performing to 800 fans and recording a live album. Live at the Haw River Ballroom was released in February 2025. Their sophomore studio album, Regressive Folk Music (2022), followed their debut Veracity, which was named by Shite’n’Onions as one of the five best Celtic punk albums of 2019–2020.https://youtu.be/wLd2fZV7P-M?si=1vP8Z3of4TKGJa8y&t=30https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otltxWI44fs&list=RDotltxWI44fs&start_radio=1Agenda🕑: 07:00 PMDoors Open🕑: 08:00 PMMusic Starts - **Event URL**: https://allevents.in/martinsville/tan-and-sober-gentlemen-in-martinsville-va/100002002572826231 - **Event Categories**: fitness, Festivals, Entertainment, Music, performances, trips-adventures - **Interested Audience**: - total_interested_count: 0 - **Event Highlights**: - Age Limit: All Ages - Presented By: Presented by Rives on the Road and Rooster Walk - Duration: 4 hours 30 minutes - Location: Forest Park - Languages: English ## Ticket Details - **Ticket Price Range**: min: 16.42, max: 16.42, currency: USD ## Event venue details - **city**: Martinsville - **state**: VA - **country**: United States - **location**: Forest Park - **lat**: 36.6483551 - **long**: -79.8327049 - **full address**: Forest Park, 1821 Mulberry Road, Martinsville, United States ## Event gallery - **Alt text**: Tan & Sober Gentlemen in Martinsville, VA - **Image URL**: https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events9/banners/ed0e3c4b47365a1280328c34e587111fcef3ff1f3b09222fa62f12a72b3129d9-rimg-w1200-h628-dcf8d8b8-gmir.jpg?v=1790843949 ## FAQs - **Q**: When and where is Tan & Sober Gentlemen in Martinsville, VA being held? - **A:** Tan & Sober Gentlemen in Martinsville, VA takes place on Sat, 12 Dec, 2026 at 07:00 pm to Sat, 12 Dec, 2026 at 11:30 pm at Forest Park, 1821 Mulberry Road, Martinsville, United States. - **Q**: Who is organizing Tan & Sober Gentlemen in Martinsville, VA? - **A:** Tan & Sober Gentlemen in Martinsville, VA is organized by Rooster Walk. - **Q**: Who is this event for?
