- **Event Description**: Come have a day of fun learning all about Labyrinths!

What is a labyrinth? The true meaning of a labyrinth is a purposeful, single-path journey toward a central destination and back out, symbolizing life's spiritual transformation.

The word "labyrinth" comes from the ancient Greek word labyrinthos, which is of pre-Greek origin and likely derived from labrys, a Lydian term for a double-bladed axe. (More on this at the workshop.)

Prehistoric Designs: Simple single-path (unicursal) labyrinth symbols are much older than the Greek myth. They date back 4,000 years or more as rock carvings, petroglyphs, and pottery decorations across Europe, India, and North Africa.

In this fact filled, science based, hands-on workshop you will learn about the spiritual medicine contained in a labyrinth. You will have a chance to walk a labyrinth on the property of ZenHorse. And we will meditate with the Zen Labyrinth Meditation Boards.

A labyrinth symbolizes the journey of life, personal transformation, and the path to self-discovery.

Many newly made labyrinths exist today, in churches and parks. Labyrinths are used by modern mystics to help achieve a contemplative state. Walking among the turnings, one loses track of direction and of the outside world, and thus quiets the mind. The Labyrinth Society provides a locator for modern labyrinths all over the world.

There are approximately 60 to 63 walking labyrinths recorded in Missouri. State Ranking: Missouri ranks 4th in the United States for average labyrinth size.

Come share in the curiosity of these ancient constructs.

Once you experience this workshop the labyrinth pattern and meaning will be forever changed in your mind :-)
