Spartan Dischords | MSU
Founded in 1982, the Spartan Dischords have been a cornerstone of Michigan State University’s music scene for over four decades. Choral director Paul Schultz handpicked the original group from the Men’s Glee Club, also known as the Singing Statesmen, with the intention of adding a playful contrast to the classical repertoire. From their early performances at the Lutheran church on Harrison Road to singing at tailgates and local events, the Dischords quickly earned a reputation for their fun song choices and humorous antics. Over the years, the group has grown into a lively ensemble of guys singing for fun, bringing laughs, and keeping it loud—no instruments needed. Proud of their legacy and traditions, they remain MSU’s oldest a cappella group, and are excited to bring their harmonies and humor to the stage!
Harmonettes | U of M
Founded in 1979, the Harmonettes have continuously contributed to the ever-growing University of Michigan as an Cappella community with their own unique sound and signature blend. As the first a cappella group on campus consisting of women and gender non-conforming individuals, they pride themselves on their inclusivity, tight-knit friendships, and innovative music. The Harmonettes, affectionately known as the Harmas, strive to create a community of laughter, support, and collaboration..
Capital Green | MSU
Capital Green is the oldest co-ed a cappella group at Michigan State University! Founded in 1998, they are in their 27th year of singing together and making memories to last a lifetime. As a group, they are most well-known for their genuine love for one another and how much fun they have when they perform. Capital Green, more than anything, is a chosen family, and they are so grateful that their collective love of music brought them together! Be sure to follow their journey on Instagram @msucapitalgreen, and take a look at their studio works on all streaming platforms! Go Green!
