TGN Presents HEV2 -Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Powertrain & Control Systems

Course Description​

This course provides in-depth exploration of electric drive motors and the associated control systems. By the end of the course participants will have an advanced understanding of how to maintain, diagnose and repair electric vehicle motors, inverters and related systems.

Prerequisite:

As this is an advanced course it is required for the participant to have completed fundamental high voltage training. For example, Bosch HEV101 course or equivalent TAFE competency.

Objectives of this Training Course:

• Diagnosis of motor failure modes and performing insulation testing, as well as exploring the design

variations and features of electric motors.

• Understanding the principles of electric motor control and the operating strategies used in EVs.

• Learn the inner workings of inverters, how to test, diagnose and replace inverters in a modern EV.

• Examination of the different semiconductor technologies in use, their practical testing and the role in

motor control systems.

• Explore the application of capacitors in EV power systems for energy storage and bus filtering as

well as testing procedures.

• Learn how to diagnose and repair the rotor position sensors we use in electric vehicle motors.

• Study of regenerative braking systems, brake torque blending and the integration of

electric/hydraulic modulators within EV control systems.
