Unter dem Namen SMITH vereint sich feinster Soul, Funk und R’n’B zu einem Sound, der gleichermaßen unter die Haut wie in die Beine geht. Die 2006 gegründete Band um die Soul/R&B-Sängerin, Songwriterin und Pianistin Svenja Schmidt steht für musikalische Qualität, Spielfreude und einen unverwechselbaren Groove.

Die aus Lippe stammende und mittlerweile in Dorsten lebende Musikerin ist längst international unterwegs – als Solokünstlerin ebenso wie mit ihrer Band. Im Zentrum des typischen SMITH-Sounds stehen funky Grooves, coole Basslinien und vor allem Svenja Schmidts markante Soulstimme, begleitet von ihrem feuerroten Fender Rhodes Piano, das sie virtuos und leidenschaftlich spielt.

Unterstützt wird sie von hochkarätigen Musikern:

Zacky Tsoukas an den Drums, der bereits Welttourneen u. a. mit Al Bano, Fair Warning, Helmut Zerlett und Ronan Keating gespielt hat, Martin Hohmeier am Bass, bekannt u. a. „The Magic of Santana“ und Dimi Tsoukas, Gitarrist und Produzent, der dem Sound seine markante Note verleiht. Auch 
mit mit internationalen Soulgrößen wie Alex Ligertwood & Tony Lindsay (beide ehemalige Santana Leadvocalisten) spielte die Band bereits.

In kleiner Besetzung beweist SMITH, dass große Musik keine große Bühne braucht: Eigene Songs treffen auf ausgewählte Covers, die stets eine persönliche, groovige Handschrift tragen. Inspiriert von Künstlern wie Stevie Wonder, Prince, Amy Winehouse oder Alicia Keys entsteht eine energiegeladene Mischung aus Soul, Funk, R’n’B und Pop – authentisch, 
leidenschaftlich und absolut mitreißend!
