Unplugged on the MAC Stage: A Special Holiday Event
with Matt Richard, Donn Legge, and Dori Rubbicco

Donn Legge, Dori Rubbicco, and Matt Richard, friends for over forty years and all graduates of the Westfield State College music program, will weave a collection of traditional and contemporary Christmas songs, reimagined into jazz, Latin, and pop styles.
Donn Legge recently accepted the Jazz Guitar position at University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and began teaching there starting in the Fall of 2025. He is also a busy performer on the South Coast of Massachusetts. He can be seen playing with South Coast Jazz Orchestra, Patrice Tiedmann’s Seaglass Theater, Dori Rubbicco, Matt Richard, NB Rude Boys, and Kareem Sanjaghi on Cape Cod. While living in Miami Florida for a number of years Donn played with the “Miami Heat Band” in the late ‘80’s and also with Gogi Grant, Rich Little and Trini Lopez.
Donn received his bachelor’s degree in music from Westfield State University ‘82 and a Masters in Jazz studies ‘85 from the University of Miami Fl. Donn accepted his first teaching job in Miami in ‘85 and taught full time music in public high schools until ‘00 when he and his family returned to Massachusetts. Donn continued teaching music in the public schools until his retirement in 2022.
Dori Rubbicco, a native of the Southcoast, has spent the majority of her life performing, writing and working as an arts and culture professional. After graduating from Westfield State College in ‘83 with a BA in Performance/Jazz Vocal Technique, she performed in numerous bands in Los Angeles and Miami throughout the ’90s, while raising her two children Ian and Jenna. Since returning home to the South Coast in 2000, she’s been a featured performer at The Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, the New Bedford Folk Festival, Madeira Feast, and the Annual NB Jazz Ensemble concert. As a member of several bands locally, you’ll likely have seen her performing with Donn, Matt and other area musicians in concert venues, clubs and at private engagements. She has recorded and released seven CD’s, independently and on the Whaling City Sound label. Her music is also available to stream on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and more. She is currently the Director of Theatre and Event Operations at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in New Bedford, where she has worked for the last 17 years.
Matt Richard studied classical piano with Ken Manzer and jazz piano with Dr. Billy Taylor. Workshops and performance master classes included jazz legends Max Roach, Marian McPartland, and Michael Brecker. A native of Fairhaven and a graduate of Westfield State College with a degree in piano performance, Matt taught choral music at Fairhaven High School and at Tabor Academy. Matt was a vocal coach and accompanist for the nationally recognized Jazz In July Workshops at UMASS, Amherst from 1985-2006.
Matt has performed throughout the New England area for the past thirty years as a soloist, an accompanist, and with many different ensembles including jazz vocal legend Sheila Jordan and Dick Johnson and The Artie Shaw Orchestra. Matt played solo piano at The Roadhouse Cafe in Hyannis, Massachusetts from 1997-2008 as well as joining with Lou Colombo and Dick Johnson on the famous Monday Night Jazz Series from 2002-2008.
Self-produced jazz recordings have included; Hawthorne Street Connection, The Art of the Duo (Jim Robitaille), Talking To Myself (solo piano), OFF SEASON (Gary Johnson and bassist Dave Zinno). In The Sky (Rick Britto), The Jazz Club (Greg Conway and Gerry Wilfong) and All The Colors (Chris Poudrier and Dave Zinno). In 2004, Matt also played a supporting role on Jim Robitaille’s CD, To Music, which features saxophonist Dave Liebman.
