- **Event Description**: The Appalachian Spirit Gallery, 144 West Main Street in Marion Va. has a great night planned for their November 14, 2025 Second Friday ArtWalk. This Artwalk event will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In the Gallery's ongoing efforts to showcase the talent of musicians living within a 30 mile radius of Marion, the November event will feature an exciting evening of music and storytelling by the ever popular Nate Montgomery.
This indoor concert will begin at 6 p.m. and is sponsored by the Bank of Marion.

As Nate shares, "From the very beginning of my learning to play I wrote songs about my own experiences. I write songs about my personal life experiences and frame those experiences in simple musical styles that I refer to as Rural Roots Music: country, blues, bluegrass, folk, old-timey, Americana. There are many people through the years that have made an impact on the songwriter that I have become either through their music or just through our relationships and experiences".

The special art exhibits for November will feature paintings by Adam Swain, wooden cutting boards by Dawn and Greg Robinson and tie dyed hats by Cade Patton.

Adam Swain is a painter based in Marion, Va. His work blends expressionism and realism to create vivid, dreamlike scenes that invite the viewer’s imagination to wander. A lifelong art enthusiast, Adam first discovered his love for painting in high school art class and has continued to refine his skills through online lessons and self-directed study.

Adam's art mostly explores nature themes, using expressive brushwork and subtle detail to leave room for the mind to “fill in the rest.”

Adam describes his motivation being twofold: a deep personal passion for bringing imaginative worlds to life, and the inspiration he draws from his wife, who is also an artist. According to Adam, "Her creativity continually encourages me to push my craft further and to view painting as both expression and connection".

Outside the studio, Adam enjoys practicing Kung Fu, playing guitar and banjo, reading, and gaming—hobbies that often fuel the storytelling energy behind his artwork.

What began a couple of years ago as a way to make personalized gifts for travel clients quickly grew into something more for Dawn and Greg Robinson — a true love for creating unique, meaningful pieces through the art of laser engraving.

One of their favorite creations is custom wooden cutting boards. Each board is carefully engraved and finished with food-safe cutting board oil, making it both beautiful and functional. While many of their customers display their boards as décor, they are designed for everyday use.

Dawn and Greg also offer fully customized engravings — from family names and favorite quotes to the most meaningful keepsake of all: a handwritten family recipe. According to Dawn, "there is something incredibly special about preserving a loved one’s handwriting forever on a piece of wood that becomes part of the home".

For those who prefer ready-made designs, Dawn and Greg also offer a variety of floral patterns, faith-inspired pieces, and kitchen sayings that add warmth and personality to any space.

Robert Cade Patton was born and raised in Wytheville VA. He is an upcoming entrepreneur with his business Oceanic Tie Dye. Oceanic Tie Dye specializes in artistically crafted Tie Dye and beach memorabilia.

Growing up Cade has always had a business mind and profitable creative ventures even as a young child. Cade's DNA is definitely creative, industrious, and visionary. It's his joy to bring artistically crafted items to Southwest Virginia and beyond. The Appalachian Spirit Gallery is currently featuring Cade's wonderful tie dyed hats.

The gallery is run by the Appalachian Spirit Artists Association, a 501(c)3 organization composed of artisans who share jobs to fulfill the group’s mission to celebrate the arts, traditions, lore and spirit of the Appalachian Mountains by demonstrating the work of local talent.

Make plans to stop by on November 14, 2025 to view the wonderful art, grab some refreshments, listen to beautiful music, sing along with friends, and do some shopping.
