Death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it. If there’s one thing that unites us all, it’s that one day, each of us will die. Yet death and dying are topics we rarely speak about.


When we lose someone we love, the experience can come as a shock to the system — grief is such a powerful, consuming emotion.


With this event, we hope to create a safe, open space to talk about death and dying, and to explore a different question: How would I like to be remembered? Isn’t it a true gift to those we leave behind when we take time to think about our own farewell — so they know our wishes and can honour them with love and peace of mind?


These days, death often takes place in hospitals or hospices, away from everyday life. But we believe these conversations belong back where they started — in the heart of our communities.


Through open dialogue about death, grief, and funeral planning, we want to ease fear and instead foster an empowering, accepting approach — one that helps us live life more fully, while also feeling prepared for its natural end. Come and join us as we start a discussion about death and dying.


Mounira, a funeral celebrant, and Mareike a death doula and photographer will be facilitating this discussion.


Event location

We will explore the topic together in a warm, safe and supportive environment. This in-person gathering open to everyone and will take place at The Bakehouse which is located in the little ally way next to Carlton Cinema at 21 St. Mildreds Rd, Westgate-on-Sea CT8 8RE (behind the Bake and Ale House).


This is a free ticketed inclusive community event. The event is run on a (no judgement) donation basis. The venue is wheelchair friendly and we will provide tea/hot drinks, cosy blankets and cake!
