- **Event Description**: A basic introduction to the range of marine life around the Kent coast.About this EventAn introduction to Kent’s Shore life.This is a beginner's introduction to the main groups of marine plants and animals found around the Kent Coast.This course will cover the features of each main group and photographs of the species most easily recognised and commonly found around Kent’s shores. The session is led by Tony Child, Thanet Coast Project, and Max Renton from Kent Wildlife Trust/Adonis Blue consultants - with support from volunteer Thanet Coastal Wardens.This introductory session will mainly involve an indoor presentation - but includes a short visit to the beach at the end.REFRESHMENTS: Hot & cold drinks and biscuits will be available.WHAT TO BRING: A notebook and pen if you wish to take notes. Your own water bottle or refillable cup. Warm, weatherproof clothing - and crocks/wetshoes or other sturdy waterproof footwear with good tread for the short outdoor beach/rockpool session at the end.LOCATION: The Drum Room, Droit House (Margate Visitor Information Centre), Margate Harbour, Kent CT9 1JDDONATION: Suggested donation of £5.00 to £10.00 - whatever you can afford to give - towards the not-for-profit Thanet Coast Project.TRANSPORT LINKS:Bus: Closest stop from The Loop is near Cecil Square (8 min walk)Train: Margate Railway Station (is about a 15 minute walk away).Car Parking: Rendezvous Car Park (Chargeable) which is besides Turner Contemporary (3 min walk). Margate Harbour Arm (1 min away: Chargeable), or Trinity Square & Market Place Car Parks (8 & 5 mins away: Chargeable) & Mill Lane Car Park (12 mins away, Chargeable, onkly free on Saturdays!). FREE parking is available on the lower promenade behind the Winter Gardens (6 minute walk away).
