The teams are led by two of the Trust's associated local groups: Mounts Bay Marine Group and Action Seagrass & Kelp.Alhtough the teams are based in these two areas, Seasearch volunteers from around Cornwall can get involved.ESSENTIAL! - To take part in this course, you must have attended and completed a Seasearch Observer courseThis training course will teach you all about seagrass and kelp and why they are important for the health of our marine environment and climate. You will also learn survey techniques to assess extent and condition of the shallow reaches of these habitatsThe course consists of a morning in the classroom at the All Saints Church, Marazion followed by an afternoon of snorkelling to practice what you have learnt (depending on weather conditions).Cost - £10 **FREE for Your Shore group members. Please contact your committee for the promo codeTo take part in this course you will need to bring your own equipment.To snorkel with us you will need to meet the following requirements:You must;Be a trained Seasearch Observer volunteerBe aged 18 or overBe a confident sea swimmer easily able to swim 100m in open sea conditions.be experienced and comfortable snorkelling or freediving in UK conditions.You must have your own snorkelling kit - warm full length wetsuit (should be at least 5mm thick), fins, mask, hood, weights (optional) etc.Be prepared to complete a self certification health declaration - or able to supply a diving medical certificate.Be fit on the day and fully able to participateWe reserve the right to refuse participation if you don't meet these requirements.
