- **Event Description**: Come out for great BBQ, sides by MHS Dolphin Bistro and Beer and Wine for sale. The event is free, you just need to purchase tickets for the BBQ samples $10 cash only (with it you get a voting ticket too), grab some sides from the Bistro and some adult beverages from Bongos. 

The City of Marathon Community Events Committee, in partnership with the Mid Keys Booster Club, presents the 1st Annual City of Marathon Sauced and Tossed BBQ Party. A BBQ Competition and picnic for all to enjoy.  

Admission to the event is free and will be held at Marathon Community Park Ampitheather and fields from 3pm - 6pm on Saturday January 31, 2026, with teams starting to smoke on Friday January 30th in the evening. Gotta smoke those butts a looonngg time to get them tender and juicy. 

For $10, guests will receive enough tickets for each competitors booth to receive a 2 oz sample of their BBQ Pork Butt (for example: if we have 15 competitors that's 30 ounces of meat). Guest will also receive a ticket with which to vote for their favorite meat, choosing the "People's Choice Winner" for the day. 

We'll have two DJ's and some games for kids and adults to play. Chef Flavor and the Culinary Class will be prepping and selling some amazing sides as well as soft drinks!! More on that later.

Right now, we're looking for teams. So if you want to try your hand at being the Pork Butt BBQ Champion of Marathon this event is for you!

Entry is $50 per team and there are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, plus the People's Choice Award. The 1st Place team will be awarded a minimum of $500. 

Completed entry forms and fee must be received no later than January 16, 2026 by 5pm. Fees may be paid in cash or a check made out to Mid-Keys Boosters and can be dropped off at City Hall M-F 8am - 5pm or mailed to City of Marathon BBQ, 9805 Overseas Highway, Marathon, FL 33050 Attn: Maria Covelli
